On June 6, 2018 beloved father, son, brother, and friend, Jeremy Michael Hohn, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Columbus, OH.
Jeremy lived and loved intensely. He came bursting into this world on February 10, 1977, born to Michael and Diane Hohn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His early life was spent in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Jeremy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1995. He loved to snow board, skate board and play team soccer. Jeremy had a beautiful tenor voice which he shared with the world in his high school concert choir, men’s small vocal group and worship team at church. In 1998, he opened a snowboard/skate shop with a few friends in Sioux Falls called NorthStar.
Jeremy attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and Whittier College in Salt Lake City, UT before finishing his degree in Business at Black Hills State in Spearfish, SD.
Jeremy loved the outdoors where he biked, hiked, fished, snowboarded and camped whenever he could. Jeremy was well read and had an avid interest in political and world affairs.
In his professional life, he put his business degree to good use for a large plant nursery in Albuquerque, NM, then went on to employment with Liberty Mutual Insurance where he worked up to a leadership role a company trainer and branch manager through promotions that took him to Houston, TX and Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX before transferring to his latest assignment in Columbus. Jeremy won Manager of the Year several years in a row and impacted many lives with his infectious smile, calm demeanor and great sense of humor.
In October of 2000, Jeremy was united in marriage to Karina Bliss and from this union he was blessed with three beautiful children.
Jeremy is survived by his children, Jeremiah, Liliana, and Matthias, his mother, Diane Van Patten, his sisters, Erika Hohn and Vanessa Block, four nephews and one niece. Also surviving Jeremy are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeremy was preceded in death by his father, Michael Hohn, as well as both his maternal and paternal grandparents. His friends and family were very much loved by him and very important to him. We will all miss his spirit of adventure and of fun.
There will be a funeral for Jeremy in South Dakota later this summer, but a gathering in Columbus at Blendon Woods Metro Park on Friday at 4pm, Hickory Grove Shelter. All are welcome to come and meet his family and share your stories!
