Abby Clement Aldrich, age 42, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on June 4, 2017. Abby was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 4, 1975 and grew up in Chesaning, Michigan. She graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1993. Abby died after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She married Bryan Aldrich, on April 13, 1996 and together they embarked on a twenty one year adventure. She lived with Bryan in their hometown of Chesaning, Michigan. Abby gave birth to their twin daughters, Lena and Liberty, on April 17, 1999. She home schooled the girls and then home birthed their third daughter Maya on August 17, 2003. In 2006 their adventure took the whole family to Columbus and eventually to Worthington, Ohio. Abby loved to volunteer and became a leader in her community. She helped found the Unschool Co-op in Columbus. She was involved with Standing Up for Racial Justice – Worthington. She also organized a petition which she took to the Worthington Schools superintendent about putting out a statement of inclusion. Abby always wanted to be a wife and a mother but she never knew how much until she married Bryan and had their daughters. All she wanted was to have kids, raise kids, and stay at home with them and together she and Bryan were able to make it all happen. Abby spent most of her life thinking and living outside of the box — from home births to home schooling she was always guided by an internal and unfailing sense of what was best for her family. She is survived by her husband Bryan; daughters Lena, Liberty, and Maya; mother Marilyn Devereaux; father Mike (Sharon) Clement; sister Tracey (Jim) Darling; her brother Mike (Tracy) Clement; brother in law Jason Aldrich; her father and mother in law Ron and Deb Aldrich, and many nephews, neices, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Metavivor at metavivor.org to help fund metastatic breast cancer awareness, research, and support for stage IV metastatic breast cancer patients. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday June 16, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Public House (Formerly the Peet Community Center) at 130 N. Saginaw St., Chesaning, Michigan.
