On June 3, 2021, Gerry Ann Nelson passed away suddenly at the age of 87.
She was born in Crooksville, Ohio on March 8, 1934, where her father, Harry W. Maxwell, was the Mayor for several years.
She was a shop owner, craft maker, baker, seamstress, and a lover of coloring and puzzles. Gerry was known for her wit, sense of humor, and ability to spin tall tales.
She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a mother involved in her children’s lives, in various ways, including Scouts and church activities.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Naoma; brother, Harry; and her loving husband, Leonard C. Nelson, who passed away in 1997 after 31 years of marriage.
She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly including her two sons, Scott and Chris (Lorena) Nelson; grandchildren, Scottie, Julia, Irena, Elliott, Shandon, and Elaina as well as great granddaughter, Iyla.
All services will be private. Following cremation, her remains will be placed in Crooksville Cemetery, as well as the Great Smoky Mountains per her wish.
