Fred Charles Nelson

Fred Charles Nelson of Delaware, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 with his daughters by his side at OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital at the age of 73.

Fred was born May 16, 1947 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Earl and Violet (Bradley) Nelson. He graduated from Linden-McKinley High School, Class of 1966. He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan for many years before returning to the Columbus area to be close to family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Annette (Steve) Merritt and Cora (Joe) Kimmet. He is also survived by his grandchildren Aubrey (Eddie) Holt, Charles William Smith, Isabelle Oronoz, as well as McKella and Amelia Kimmet.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, siblings James Nelson, JoAnn Howard, and Earlene Howard, and son Robert “Jody” Nelson.

Fred enjoyed cooking, especially fried chicken and catfish, camping, golfing, and basketball. He was a lifelong Buckeyes fan (O-H). Most of all he loved his family.

There will be no service at this time and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to OhioHealth Hospice – Delaware.

We would like to say a special thanks to Michaele Mullins for helping care for Fred the last four years. We would also like to thank the exceptional nurses and staff in the ICU of OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital for the care they provided during his illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
