Renee Denise Closs

August 17, 1953 - January 2, 2021

Renee Denise Closs (Rende) of Chicago, Illinois, unexpectedly passed away surrounded by her loving husband and daughter on January 2, 2021.

Renee was born on August 17, 1953 to Isidore Quinn Rende and Dorothea Marie Rende (Banes) in Oakland Park. She attended Lutheran North High School and went on to fall in love and marry David Jerrald Closs, welcoming their new daughter on July 27, 1972, Brenda Georgine Closs, in the same city she loved and called home. Renee and David built their life together, enjoying their successes along the way. Their life path took them to Dublin, Ohio where they spent their remaining years together.

Renee was a strong, determined, intelligent woman that carved her path to finish her bachelor degree at Ohio Dominion University, graduating suma cum laude. During this exciting time in her life, she welcomed her first grandchild that same year, and 2 years later, she welcomed her second grandchild (holding her daughter’s hand and cutting the cord for both babies). She began her new career as a computer analyst for the City of Columbus and just enjoyed her retirement from a 30 year career with the State of Ohio in the legislative division for internal technology support. Although she missed her beloved City of Chicago, she enjoyed the many parks and the beauty of nature the City of Dublin offers.

Renee was a tremendously dedicated and loving grandmother to Hannah Marie Williamson (age 20) and David Haig Williamson (age 18). Hannah and David both enjoyed living down the street from both grandma and grandpa, and reaped every benefit imaginable with two loving people always available to them, whenever they needed. Renee loved her nieces, nephews and friends, showing them the same love and caring nature her grandchildren enjoyed. She was thoughtful and heartfelt with her words and actions. She dispensed her knowledge, experience and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her strength and resilience is and will continue to be an inspiration.

Renee was predeceased by Isidore Quinn Rende on June 10, 2010 and Dorothea Marie Rende (Banes) on January 28, 2000 and survived by her loving husband, David Jerrald Closs, daughter Brenda Georgine Williamson (Closs), her husband, Joel David Williamson, granddaughter Hannah Marie Williamson, grandson David Haig Williamson and her sister, Donna Marie Rende (DeSalvo).

Renee’s family will lay her to rest in her beloved home in the City of Chicago in the Spring of 2021. More information on the celebration of her life will be forthcoming.

My sympathies to Dave, Brenda & family. Renee & I went to hs together. Life took us in different directions after hs but we always stayed in contact with each other. She & Dave attended my daughter's wedding near Cleveland 10 yrs ago. After that we began to correspond more often, with her coming to Chicago for a hs reunion. After that she came into Chicago more often & we enjoyed time together so I'm grateful for that time. Renee was a sweet, intelligent, caring friend & I will miss her & the talks we shared. May she rest in peace, strength & peace for your family.
