Stephen J. Hauser, 68, passed away at home on Dec. 26, 2020 after battling with brain cancer.
Steve was an avid cyclist and supporter of Pelotonia, which he road in for more than 130 miles in 2019 during his treatment for glioblastoma. He loved traveling, good food, The Ohio State University, scuba diving, skiing, golfing, tennis and spending time with friends and family. He will regret missing the Ohio State-Clemson game on New Years Day, although if he can find a way to watch it, he will.
He spent more than 40 years in corporate development, sales and financial management with companies including Coutant Capital Associates, Eaton Corp/Aeroquip-Vickers, Federal Mogul Corp., Ernst & Young, TRW and Deere & Co. Most recently he was doing M&A work with Corporate Finance Associates
He was a self-described simple man “with no quirks.’’ His friends and family all laughed when he said that. He was lovingly referred to for the past 20 years as Smoothie Hauser, a nickname he earned after opting for a “healthy’’ smoothie, which turned out to have 2,000 calories.
He leaves behind his children, Dana Hauser (wife Lexie) of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Hilary Hauser (fiance Ashley Lowery) of Columbus, Ohio; his granddaughter Riley; his sisters Leslie Hauser of Columbus and Betsy O’Connell of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; his partner Kathleen Green of Columbus; his former wife Denise Hauser of Delray Beach, Fla.; and a niece and two nephews.
The family will have a private memorial at a future date. If you want to make a donation in his name, the family asks that you make it to Pelotonia for treatment of glioblastoma by going to.
