Billie Jean Robertson

August 2, 1934 - December 9, 2020

Billie Jean (Bryant) Robertson, 86, passed away December 9th from complications of the coronavirus. She is predeceased by her husband of almost 69 years, Alfred Robertson, Jr. Jean was the much-loved mother of Sharon (Charles) Honacher, Sheila (Richard) Cottingham, and Beverly Robertson (Thomas Pleban). She was also the loving grandmother of Mackenzie (Keith) Kendrick and great-grandmother of Hailey, Holly, and Mason Kendrick.

Jean was born to Richard and Eula Mae (Kirk) Bryant on August 2, 1934, in Delbarton, West Virginia. She married quite young and at her urging, the family moved to Columbus in 1960, making a good life for themselves, settling on the west side in the Hilltop area. Jean went to work in 1971, and retired from the J.C. Penney Company in 1996 after 25 years, first as a part-time associate then was promoted to become a commission sales associate first in major appliances then electronics, and finally retiring from the fine jewelry department. She loved working and was very successful in her career there.

In retirement Jean was an avid reader, sometimes bringing 10 to 12 books home at a time from the library. She loved decorating and was meticulous about her house and appearance, fiercely independent, an accomplished and wonderful cook and baker, was an avid lover of country music, and a prolific quilter, producing several beautiful quilts for family and friends.

Above all else, she loved her family and was fiercely protective of, and loyal to them. She will be always loved and greatly missed.

Special thanks to Cortney Seymour, CNP, Lead Nurse Practitioner Post-Acute Team, MedOne Hospital Physicians. The family is grateful for her kindness and compassion in treating our mother during this difficult time.

Cremation arrangements were made by Schoedinger Funeral Home and Buckeye Cremation Services. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Donations in her name can be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
