Robert Bryson McBride

August 25, 1932 - June 29, 2020

Robert Bryson McBride passed away on June 29, 2020. He was born on August 25, 1932 in Rarden, Ohio to Ruth Day and Vernon Bryson McBride. He is survived by wife, Harriet W. McBride; children, Elizabeth and David Jones, Bradley and Sarah McBride, and Jennifer and John Pritchard; grandsons, Nicholas Jones, Colin, Dillon, and Ian McBride.  He also leaves loved niece, Felicia Davis; her children, Ciara and Austin; nephew, Tony (Lori)  Benedetto, and their children, Anthony and Anna Marie; sister-in-law, Diane Wainwood; nieces, Laura (Chris) Paterson, and their children, James, Claire and Eve; niece, Stephanie (Paul) Colella and their children, Zachary and Levi. He deeply loved his entire family. Bob was a fun-loving man, enjoyed life to the fullest and often said he had done everything he ever wanted to do. He was an avid Buckeye football fan and tailgates were a fixture of many afternoons. Bob’s passions were golf and flying. He held a private pilot license with an instrument rating, and logged many hours in Piper J3 and various Cessna aircraft. He took the family on flying vacations and many RV camping trips. He taught his son how to fly. Bob loved the game of golf, played many famous golf courses, had great golf buddies and was a proud member of OSU Golf Course for many years. He graduated from Portsmouth, OH High School, served four years in the U. S. Air Force; and enrolled at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1959.  Bob established himself as an expert in corporate design and was a founding member of the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts.  He received a Master’s Degree in Advertising Design in 1975 from Syracuse University. He was well-known and respected in the advertising and arts communities; he worked for Marathon Oil Company, the State of Ohio and retired from Ross Laboratories after 20 years. Bob was a good husband, a great father, a kind and honest man and a model for his children. He leaves us with fond memories of wonderful times together; the world is a better place because he was among us. “Bob was an avid supporter of Ohio State University Golf and preservation of its facilities.

A sad day for my family as Bob was a truly wonderful person, as is the whole family. My wife Jessica and I (Joel) along with our daughter Tara spent sooooo many happy times with them all when we all lived in next to each other buildings on Broadmeadows Blvd. Harriet was the matriarch and Betsy, Brad and Jenny were like our kids half the time. From the bike rides to the wiffle ball games at No Rivers, No Lights Joel's Rules Stadium (where Bob was a super star) we were always laughing and having fun. Having a chance working with Bob a bit at Ross Labs, I also knew of his importance there. A truly great man that will be greatly missed in person, but not in spirit. --- Joel and Jessica Siegman and Tara Bryan

Harriet, I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Bob was a great man and a dear friend of mine. We most definately had great golf outings like "Yellow Jaundice Golf Tournament". My thoughts and prayers are with the family. God bless. Roy Ziegler
