Robert Dowell Harris Sr was born in Long Beach, California to George Harris and Neva (Dowell) Harris. On June 6th, 2020 he passed away surrounded by his immediate family at Riverside Hospital. He impacted so many lives and is survived by wife Daisy Harris and children Robert Harris Jr, Jesse Pierce, and Keri Harris. Also surviving Rob are his 9 grandchildren, Shannon Harris, Natalie Harris, Hannah Harris, Morgan Harris, Tiffany Harris, Ella Pierce, Elisabeth Pierce, Emily Pierce, and Elijah Pierce. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Tom Harris, sister Gwyn Cave, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was well traveled and loved the beach and desert. His passions were family and scuba diving as well as building and racing off-road vehicles. He held many racing titles including multiple first place wins at the Score International Baja 500, Baja 1000, and Firecracker 250 Barstow to Vegas. Rob’s larger than life personality, adventurous spirit and many, many stories of races in the desert and cave diving trips impacted and fascinated those he encountered. During his career, Rob was a highly skilled mechanic who owned a scuba diving business and worked as an engineer for several large manufacturers.
He was deeply loved and was a wonderful husband and father who genuinely cared for his family. He leaves a large hole in our hearts and will be gravely missed but never forgotten.
At this time, no memorial service will be held.
