Carolyn Wells

June 1, 1947 - November 15, 2018

Carolyn Wells age 71 was born on June 01, 1947 and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 15, 2018 at her residence in Columbus, OH. She was the daughter of Mr. Charlie Canty and Pastor Lilly Canty. Carolyn was originally from New York, but spent many years in South Carolina. In 2013 she relocated to Columbus Ohio to be a part of the daily lives of her son, daughter in law and her grandchildren.  She was passionate about her education and returned to school in later years obtaining her Associate in Arts in 2010 and her Bachelors of Science in 2013.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son John Waters Sr., daughter in-law Amber Waters and five grandchildren; United States Army PFC Delicia Magana, Alizay Magana Waters, John Waters Jr., Gavin Waters, and Kalum Waters, her sister Dorothy Thomas, a special nephew Clemit McFadden, a special niece Claudia Kerr, her niece Shelly Thomas and a host of other family members, and loved ones.

Carolyn was an active member of Gender Road Christian Church, and lived her life being a servant to the Lord. Her unwavering assurance that God was ultimately in control was not only inspiring, but admirable in her final weeks. She was happiest spending time with her five grandchildren, and nurturing their growing faith. Her heartfelt smile will truly be missed, along with her quick-whitted sense of humor. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, perseverance, courage and the blessing of laughter in the midst of tears.

The Waters family would like to express their deep appreciation for the many acts of kindness and support shown during this time. We pray God will continue to bless and keep each of you.

I am so sorry about the loss of Carolyn. She was one of the kindest, most sincere people I had the privilege of getting to know at GRCC. She cared so much for her family and will be greatly missed.

I did not get the opportunity to meet her. However, her sister, Mother Dorothy Thomas, is the mother of our church, in Sumter, SC. Through Mother Thomas, I found out that Sis. Carolyn Wells was a beautiful person. I am praying for the family.
